Waves are up everywhere.

The Northeast is best. NorthWest is in the shadow. South shores are good enough to help keep the crowds down everywhere. Lucky we live Hawai'i.

Hawaii Electronic Music Festival

Those of you that snuck into the Coconut Island gig got the best value but missed out on some rad visuals at the Palace.

Overall, the "E fest" was well worth it. It was a great time. Although, some of the mixes seemed a bit too rehearsed for the "Big Stage".

We've got some great local DJs you should check out at the local clubs and high energy raves on the lava flows. That's the place to be and see. Join our free newsletter to get on the list of upcoming events.

Also while you're sitting there, check out local Puna Nation Radio. No, you won't have to pay twenty bucks. Yes, you'll get some great beats by a local DJ, Rubicon_Zen.

DJs, step up and send us your mixes. Got something new? Send it to us for a review and we'll get your music streaming on Big Island Fun!

Pricey but fun. Everyone had a great time and the visuals were BIG!

Northeast swells feeds surfers...

Marine advisory for all North facing shores. North facing shore with your board, wax and leash and get in the water. Here's a few excuses to tell your boss.

  • Hearing so much about the Bird Flu caused you to feel sick and now you're afraid to go outside..
  • Rocks on Bayfront Highway gave you a flat tire before they had a chance to clean the rubbish..
  • Queen K/Kawaihai intersection had accident. You had to go to Waimea Police station to make statement.
  • You had to go help your friends secure their boat in Hawi.
  • You thought they said Volcano Warning instead of marine warning so you fled to Kohala Lighthouse for the day.

Skills to pay the bills

When it comes to acoustic rythyms and exquisitely, smooth and equally powerful vocals that ryhm, these two have the beats that move your feets.

Check'em out at Lola's or down by the beach. Could somebody ask them when they're gonna be done pumping out a cd? That's Steve with the Kapoho Kings playing along in some of the video.

Basic Human Tones

Sure, everything has tones but these guys makes the tones we love best. Checked'um out at Kope Kope in Hilo last Friday night.

A great show with some amazing moments of truth, guitar riffs and spoken word. The music sweet -like Kau sugar.

Mauna Kea We Love You!

It's on. Last week we saw our first real base develp in upper and lower bowls and now we've got another foot of fresh pow pow. Time to ride!

Tune into the Mauna Kea Weather Center for details and webcam shots and check out the Onizuka Visitor Center Website for Summit Road conditions and closures. At the time of this writing (01/10/05 AM), the road is closed but is expected to open early Wednesday. Our hunch is a late Tuesday afternoon opening if the snow stops falling today.

Waimea Skatepark is OPEN

Awe, yeah... it's on!
From the first visit you can feel the joy. These are happy kids (uh hmm, and skaters of all ages)!

It's been a long wait with skateparks closing and street skating freaking people out, it's finally here. Rejoice, let it all out, and skate it till ya make it! It's at the big park near the middle of town. Easy to find, just ask where the vacant basketball courts are ;)

Volcano skatepark is reportedly open again (was house of ramps). Check out these details and great photos at Hawaiiansurge.com.

Know of any other half-pipes, ramps or evil places to skate? Let us know!
